Review: The Gamechanger by Lana Ferguson

The Gamechanger by Lana Ferguson

By Bookish Banter

Delilah Baker is a successful baker, no pun intended. Her career consists of filming a baking show with new recipes every episode, however, her numbers are dropping.

Ian Chase is a well-known hockey player. He left town a few years ago when his public breakup with his ex-wife put him in the spotlight. Now that he's returned, the news is all over him, digging up the past.

The only way to get the spotlight off of Ian and bring the numbers back up on Delilah's show? Put Ian in an apron and have him bake something on camera. There's one big issue though...Ian's best friend is Delilah's brother and they all go way back. Delilah had a raging crush on Ian when she was younger and she's realizing those feelings haven't gone away.

After the episode airs, fans are going crazy over the chemistry the two shared on camera and now speculations of them having a thing are running rampant. What's the next step? Ian and Delilah's teams agree that they should fake-date because what better way to keep Delilah's numbers rising and extinguish the news of Ian's breakup with the publicity of a new potential girlfriend?

Now let me just start by saying that I absolutely regret not reading this book when I first got it months ago. I had high expectations because I loved The Nanny by Lana Ferguson and she didn't let me down. Ian is dealing with a lot of trauma from his dad and the pressure of his love life being highlighted on social media, but Delilah seems to be the only light in his life, the one who can bring out the best in him. I would for sure only rate the spice level a 3 given that there's not a crazy ton but the spicy scenes themselves? Boy oh boy has Ian raised the standards. Overall, I do love this book.
